This is an overview of a basic trip wire alarm system I use around my home and property to enhance my security. Seen in this video is a basic model without mounting brackets or camouflage. The placement of the alarm system will dictate the style of mounts used and if the unit will need to be camouflaged or not. This unit is not the lightest, weighing at 10.3oz (0.64lbs) without mounting brackets, which may not lend itself well as a backpacking model if weight becomes an issue. Additionally, the 6″x3″x2″ dimensions may become too bulky if space in a backpack is critical. All of the materials used in the construction were obtained from Radio Shack, Lowe’s, and Walmart. The intended purpose was to have this device constructed from commonly available materials from within my community for ease of construction.
