Sometimes those companies install the systems for "free" in return for a long term contract. But when the contract ends the company claims they still own the control panel and won’t let you use it without signing up for the service.
You might have to purchase your own control panel and wire it up to the existing sensors, as some of those units won’t work without the phone line being hooked up.
That may not be the case with yours but I am saying be prepared for that answer.
You will only have monitoring if you pay for it. As far as resetting your alarm code, just call ADT and tell them you need instructions on how to reset it. I can’t imagine they won’t help you.
call adt and give them the serial # they should tell you how to reset it,
unhook the phone line going to the alarm system [ this is how its monitored ]
then try the different codes
Don’t let them talk you into monitoring, if you don’t want it. Tell them you wish to use this as a "local alarm" and would like a technician to program it with your new code. You might get charged a service call, but you have an alarm with your code.PM me if you have any trouble.
